Who is on the Committee?
Rye Preschool is an independent kindergarten, run and operated by a volunteer Management Committee. The committee is made up of parents elected each year at our Annual General Meeting.
Rye Preschool relies on the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm of committee members to keep everything running smoothly.
Anyone can be involved- all you need is enthusiasm and the ability to commit a small amount of time on a regular basis. Committee members must also satisfy Working with Children checks and police background checks.
What does the Committee do?
The management Committee is responsible for all Centre operations. Among other things, it ensures that polices and procedures are in place for the Preschool to operate on a daily basis and from year to year. It appoints and supports staff, collects fees, develops and monitors budgets, and ensures that licensing and funding requirements are met.
Don’t worry- Many hands make light work!! Committee responsibilities are divided between positions so that no-one is burdened by too much. And there’s lots of help, free training and other resources available to supports volunteer committees through ELLA.
Why should I get involved?
Supportive parents, great teachers and a fantastic community spirit at Rye Preschool help make this kindergarten the success it is. And why should only the kids have all the fun?! Being on the Committee gives you the opportunity to experience bigger, better and more enriching kinder year – for both you and your child.
